Formerly known as the KEY (Youth East Kilbride backwards!), East Kilbride Universal Connections is a purpose built youth facility right at the heart of East Kilbride. With such a brilliant centre there really is something for everyone in the EK UC, and after the recent refurbishment it’s just getting better!
The huge games hall is equip for basketball, football and badminton as well as a great variety of other games and sports while downstairs is being transformed into a modern and interesting place for young people to meet, relax and hang out and the youth enquiry room (which is available to book for specialist groups) hosts two Apple Mac computers, two sofas, a television and DVD player.
The IT suite boasts 6 computers, all with access to the internet and a high quality printer. In addition, Universal Connections has invested in three brand new 20" Apple Macs with the latest in multi media software and technology such as Imovie, Garage Band and an integrated camera.
The Dungeon Rehearsal Studio offers a fully equipped room for only £1 per person per hour. The price included hire of the room and use of the following equipment: Mapex Q Series 5 Piece Drum Kit, Peavey Bass Amplification, Marshall and Line 6 Guitar Amplification, Wharfdale PA with Peavey floor monitors, SM58 Vocal Microphones & Alesis Multimix 8 Mixing Desk.
Of course with all this room we need to do something with it, with our drop-ins attracting 80 young people each Monday, Wednesday and Friday while our gigs pull in over 150 young people at a time.
As well as this we have pool, table tennis, football, sports, IT and loads of games for the Playstation, Nintendo Wii or Xbox 360, not to mention our arts, drama and outreach groups in Calderwood, Greenhills, St Leonard's and Strathaven. Have a look below for details of just some of our groups.
