Terminal One youth groups are delivered to the local community by a team of trained youth workers. The purpose of the groups is to engage young people in various activities, to divert them from hanging around with nothing to do and get them involved in positive activities.
The groups are delivered in the evenings to young people between the ages of 8-21 years. This is where they can drop in to hang out or have the opportunity to plan and participate in programmes, events and outings. In 2007/08 the groups have an average of 202 young people coming along on a weekly basis.
John Ogilvie High School once again participated in an Alternative Curriculum program delivered by Terminal One. This year was a little different; our course was delivered in conjunction with the Youth Achievement Awards. We offered a four module course in Multimedia which included Graphic Design with Photoshop, Media Editing with Final Cut Pro, Music Production with Cubase and Garageband and finally Camera Techniques for Film Making. On completion of the modules the group were awarded Bronze level Youth Achievement Awards, 60% of the young people who took part achieved this success. Thank you to the volunteers and staff for their contribution to youth clubs and groups over the past year. It is a credit to them that the group numbers and quality of work have remained high.
