The Larkfield youth project is a small youth club behind Larkfield Hall on Stonefield Road. It has two small rooms filled with lots of fun things to do like arts and craft and games, as well an Xbox 360, Wii, plasma TV and iMacs.
We have a Junior group (age 8 to S1), a Pre Senior group (S1-S2) and a Senior group (S3+) all running Monday-Wednesday.
The project works closely with Hyper Cyber High Blantyre and is run by a team of staff and volunteers from both projects, although it is our members who are really in control! The young people in LYP are involved in every aspect of the project – volunteering, planning their own trips and activities and even fundraising to pay for it all!
Over the years the LYP has ran a number of different projects designed to suit the different young people coming through our doors as well as Summer and Easter trips to places like paintballing, white water rafting, and Lazer Zone, as well as trips further away to Blackpool and Thorpe Park.
As well as this we work hard with our partners Hyper Cyber High Blantyre each year to organise the High Blantyre Fun Day for the whole of the Blantyre community, a very successful event which this year raised nearly £800. There where lots of things to do including a dunk tank, a giant slide, a bouncy castle and lots of stalls. Young people from the projects where the driving force behind the event, organising and working on the stalls and inflatables and taking part in lots of the activities like the sports day and football.
The club is open Monday-Wednesday at the times below: Juniors: 5pm-6.30pm Pre-Seniors: 6.30pm-8pm Seniors: 8pm-9.30pm
